I will have a table full of different types of trash/recycled materials that they can choose from to turn into representational objects. They can do this with tape, glue, and staples. They will explore interests, themes, and ideas all of which have been influenced by the exploration they have done in the class so far. We will emphasize the idea of the environment as the next day is earth day and answer the question of how artists an help the earth. They will reflect on what they can do to help protect our planet and also reflect on their time spent in art club up until now

Pre-Assessment/Discussion I will first explain to students SHOM and talk about what it means to reflect in a project with a class discussion and sharing with partners. Then we will talk about Earth Day. Lastly I will show them an example and explain the concept of representational art/making the recycled objects look like other things. Post-Assessment I will go around and ask students what they thought of using recycled material and if they found any challenges with their project. Through this I should be able to see their play and exploration. I might ask leading questions such as: • What was easy with the project? • What is your favorite part of using recycled material? • What was challenging with this project? Materials • Recycled materials • Markers • Scissors • Tape/glue • String • staples Key Vocabulary: • Studio Habits of Mind • reflect • Play • Explore • Earth day • recycle
