Activity

Students will use the SHOM Stretch and Explore to paint on rocks. They will explore interests, themes, and ideas all of which have been influenced by the exploration they have done in the class so far

Pre-Assessment/Discussion

I will first explain to students SHOM and talk about what it means to stretch and explore in a project with a class discussion and sharing with partners. Then we will talk about how to safely use the materials. Lastly I will show them an example of a rock I painted.

Post-Assessment

I will go around and ask students what they thought of painting on rocks and if they found any challenges with their project. Through this I should be able to see their play and exploration. I might ask leading questions such as:

· What was easy with the material?

· What is your favorite part of painting?

· What was challenging with this material?
